First Aid Fundamentals

[ Easy Ways to be a Helping Hero ]

This lesson introduces students to basic first-aid skills and the essential items found in a first-aid kit. We will cover how to use common first-aid items, such as band-aids and gauze pads as well as how to handle minor injuries like cuts and scrapes. The lesson will also emphasize the importance of staying calm in an emergency and knowing when to seek professional medical help.

Hands-on activities in this lesson include the students receiving their mini first-aid kit sent from our organization where they would practice how to treat injuries.

Nutrition & Hygiene

[ Tips for Eating Clean and Staying Fresh! ]

This lesson introduces students to the importance of nutrition and how different food groups contribute to overall health. We will explain why nutrition is vital for our bodies and teach kids about the importance of each food group.

Additionally, the lesson will cover the importance of personal hygiene. We will teach proper hygiene practices, such as how to wash hands correctly, proper coughing etiquette, and how to keep personal items clean. Students will also learn why certain items, like phones or backpacks, are germ magnets and why it’s crucial to maintain cleanliness.

Hands-on activity for this lesson includes “Make Your Own Plate” where students will either use a paper plate or a picture of a plate to draw what a healthy meal would be for them based on their personal preference. They would draw it once before our presentation and once after to show what they have learned from the lesson.

Building Healthy Minds

[ Understanding The Basics of Mental Well-Being ]

This lesson provides an introduction to psychology, helping students understand why we sometimes feel specific ways about certain things. We will discuss how to control our feelings and emotions in different situations and the importance of mental health. Students will explore scenarios to identify healthy and unhealthy coping strategies, which will help deepen their understanding of stress management and maintaining mental health.

Students will reflect on their emotional responses and take home practical techniques for managing their emotions in everyday life.

Future Healers

[ Exploring the World of Medical Careers! ]

This lesson introduces students to various medical careers, organizing them into categories and explaining the roles and responsibilities of each profession. We will cover the basics of different fields of study, such as neuroscience, pediatrics, cardiology, and surgery, and clarify the differences between general medicine and specialized fields. To enhance engagement, students will take a quiz that matches their interests with a medical career, helping them connect their passions with future possibilities in the medical field.

This lesson is generally aimed at an older audience (5th-6th grade).

Future Medics: Exploring Careers in Healthcare

This course introduces kids to the fascinating world of medical careers. From doctors and nurses to paramedics and researchers, participants will explore a variety of roles that save lives and improve health. Through fun activities and hands-on demonstrations, they’ll discover what it’s like to work in healthcare.

Children will also learn about the steps to pursue a medical career, including education, skills, and personal qualities like empathy and teamwork. This course is perfect for sparking curiosity and inspiring kids to dream big about their future in medicine.

Biology

[ Exploring the Building Blocks of Life ]

This lesson covers basic human anatomy, including body systems, and the structure of cells. We’ll also explore brain functions by identifying the roles of different brain parts and introduce basic psychology.

Hands-on activities in this lesson include coloring human anatomy and cell structures to reinforce learning, as well as a gene trait activity where students explore dominant and recessive traits, helping them understand how rare certain traits can be.

*Some parts of this lesson can be taken out based on whether the students have already taken biology
